The company was demoing a PS3-based headtracking system at GDC that doesn't require any special IR glasses to function -- it just uses a bone-stock Playstation Eye camera to track your ugly mug around the room. Sony says it's not announcing the system for any games yet, but we can't imagine devs aren't clamoring for this to get official -- this would be amazing for all sorts of genres. But nothing's come close to this. First, I'm going to try to describe the sheer magnitude of Jeremy Kipnis' theater. His Stewart Snowmatte laboratory-grade screen is the biggest I've ever seen in a home, and in the back of the theater, there's a Sony ultra-high-resolution (4,096-by-2,160) SRX-S110 digital projector. I'm looking everywhere, jotting down questions, and Kipnis sounds almost giddy talking about his theater's capabilities. He refers to his baby, the Kipnis Studio Standard (KSS), as "The Greatest Show on Earth." And from the looks of it, he may be right.

We may never know the answer to those questions, but what we do know is that the company is presenting a new concept device called the Morph that would be right at home... in the year 3000. The unit is included in the MoMA's "Design and the Elastic Mind" exhibition catalog, and boasts the ability to stretch and flex to almost any shape a user could think of. The nanotechnology-based device would deliver transparent electronics, self-cleaning surfaces, and the malleability to transform into any number of configurations. Of course, the actual technology required to put this together is years or even decades away, though Nokia expects to see some of these innovations making their way into high-end products within seven years. Meer keuze? Nee! Net dit is waar ze een speciale eend in de bijt zijn. Je kan er namelijk steeds maar 1 product kopen, maar wel aan een gigantisch interessante prijs.

Utilities: Gadwin Printscreen

Printscreen, de knop die iedereen ergens rechts boven op zijn toetsenbord heeft staan. Het kan op momenten heel makkelijk zijn om het scherm dat je ziet, of het nu een website, foto of artikel is, vast te leggen.

Het grote nadeel van de printscreen knop? Steeds zal je volledig scherm woden gecaptured. Wil je nu net die 1ne foto, pech, dat 1 logo, pech,...


Maar daar komt snel een eind aan met Gadwin Printscreen. Met dit Freeware programma dat je gratis kan downloaden van de Gadwin Website, kan je zelf instellen welk deel je wil capturen, volledig scherm, zelf te selecteren deel, actief venster,... allemaal mogelijk! Jr kan de files ook automatisch laten opslaan in een zelf te kiezen directory. Zeer handig dus.

Zelf gebruik ik dit programma meer dan een jaar en ben er ZEER tevreden mee!

Niet voor hun plezier, maar omdat op die machientjes simulaties en wetenschappelijke berekeningen gemaakt kunnen worden waar de doorsnee-computer niet klaar voor is. Supercomputer Een fysicus die voor zijn wetenschappelijk onderzoek de interactie moet nagaan tussen deeltjes kan daarvoor doorgaans niet terecht op een gewone pc of laptop. De berekeningen en simulaties die nodig zijn om de daarvoor vereiste grafische beelden te maken, worden dan ook meestal gemaakt met behulp van een dure en niet altijd beschikbare supercomputer.

Dat hebben bronnen rond het Japanse elektronicaconcern gemeld. Toshiba was in een felle strijd verwikkeld met Sony, dat de rivaliserende dvd-technologie Blu-ray ontwikkelde. Filmstudio's Analisten menen dat Toshiba de strijd nu definitief heeft opgegeven. Sony was al aan de winnende hand. Vorige maand koos de toonaangevende filmstudio Warner Brothers ervoor zijn films voortaan alleen uit te brengen op schijven die alleen met Blu-ray kunnen worden afgespeeld. Bovendien besliste Wall-Mart, de grootste warenhuisketen van de VS, eergisteren nog om enkel Blu-ray dvd's en hardware te verkopen.

Via stumble upon kan je jouw interesses doorgeven. Door op de Stumble knop te drukken selecteerd het programma een website waarvan hij verwacht dat je hem leuk zal vinden. Je kan elke website een + of een - rating geven. Hierdoor leert het programma je beter kennen en zal je steeds meer en betere sites tegenkomen.

Lopen & doelen

Twee weken geleden, net voor de tweede fitttest, liep mijn loopschema om 20k te halen ten einde. Ondertussen is het weeral een week of 2 vrij rustig op loopgebied vanwege gebrek aan nieuw doel en planning.
Hoog tijd dus om dit wat bij te schaven. Het nieuwe maanddoel is ingesteld op 120km. Gezien ik vorige maand dit streefcijfer met 1.4km heb gemist, moet ik het deze maand zeker zien te halen.



Ook qua lopen ga ik eerstdaags een nieuw schema opstellen. Waar vorige keer de nadruk vooral lag op afstand (naar 20k) zal ik nu meer gaan werken aan de snelheid. Terug met regelmaat intervaltrainingen afwisselen met duurlopen. Ik zie er alvast naar uit om terug op dreef te raken.

Voor mezelf weet ik ondertussen dat een goede planning essentieel is.

Utilities: BlogRovR

In previous post, I talked about reading all your favorite blogs.

Off course, there are also many blogs out there that can have interesting or good information, but which you only need when searching or reading on a particular subject. This is where BlogRovR comes in play.

What is does is finding information on blogs and cross referencing with the website you are reading. It uses a small bar on the bottom right of your browser that pops out when there is information. When you click on the info, a new small window appears with the blogpost in it. (see example below)

For example: when visiting the BlogLines website, BlogRovR gives me the link to an article (of my own blog :-) ) concerning BlogLines.
