Utilities: Fat32Format

Hoe fat32 formateren in Windows XP?

Enige tijd geleden kocht ik en WD passport externe HDD om voornamelijk te gebruiken met mijn Playstation 3 (PS3).

Na deze te hebben uitgeleend aan een vriend kwam hij geformateerd terug. Op zich heel proper, maar blijkbaar was deze gedaan in NTFS formaat waarmee de PS3 niet overweg kan.

Geen probleem dacht ik, even Fat32 formateren en klaar, maar dat bleek niet zo eveident aangezien windows XP deze schrijf niet fat32 kon formateren.

Na wat zoeken heb ik een proggie gevonden waarmee het gelukkig wel kan.

Hier kan je het downloaden. Unzip, ga naar comand prompt (cmd) naar correcte dir en type "fat32format x:". Waar x je drive is die je wil formateren.

Het was zeer snel gedaan en zodoende kan je dus toch een drive in fat 32 formateren vanuit windows XP. De schijf werkt nu terug perfect samen met de Playstation 3.

Zoals in vorige post reeds gezegd, kan het aankopen van games een dure zaak zijn. Hoe minder deze dan ook kosten, des te beter.

Bij mijn zoektoch kwam ik terecht bij Play.com.


Play.com is een grote online winkel die voor Europa verzend vanuit de UK. Ze bieden echter veel meer dan enkel game. In hun collectie vind je een uitgebreid aanbod van Films, DVD's Blu-Rays, Muziek CD's, Games, Consoles, Electronica, computers,... Een leuke aardigheid is dat ze op ALLES gratis verzending aanbieden en hun prijzen voor vele zaken zeer scherp zijn.

Zo was op moment van schrijven Midnight Club: Los Angeles, voor PS3 (Playstation 3) hier te koop voor €23,49 incl verzending, waar hij in onze locale gaming winkel nog vlot €54 stond.



Het aanmaken van een accoutn verliep heel vlot. Betaling kan gebeuren via credit card.
Bestelling geplaatst op zondag 25/1/2009, levering verwacht... (update bij levering)



Wat me ook op viel is dat ze hier Assassin's Creed (Platinum) aanbieden voor slechts €12.99 incl verzending. Persoonlijk vind ik dit een super spel, en dus zeker voor de mensen die dit nog niet hebben is dit zeker zijn geld waard!!!

Playstation 3 en Games kopen

Als je de vergelijking maakt is de playstation 3 console op zich vrij "goedkoop". Voor de prijs van €250,00 tot €399,00 heb je tegenwoordig reeds een playstation console met al dan niet extra games en een controler bij. Deze functioneer ineens als Blu-Ray speler, media streamer, media center, DVD speler (met upscaling functionaliteit), CD speler,...

Kortweg, enkel al de Blu-Ray functie is zijn geld waart. Het is trouwens al meerdere keren bewezen via tests dat de PS3 o pdit moment de beste Blu-Ray speler o pde markt is. Hierbij komt dat de ondersteuning en software updates zeer goed zijn waardoor je vrijwel zeker kan zijn dat je steeds de laatste functionaliteiten in de console hebt.

Wat is dan wel duur?
Het aankopen van games!!!

Als ik naar de games kijk kosten ze ongeveer €60 a €65 als ze uit komen. De gamen die veel verkopen krijgen na een tijdje een Platinum uitgave waardoor ze €25 a €29 kosten.
Als je dus, zoals ik niet wil wachten op de platinum versie ben je na 10 games aan te kopen, al snel €600 kwijt, wat bijna 2* de kostprijs van de console is. Vandaar dat het zoeken naar goedkope games, of goedkope aanbiedingen je serieus wat geld kan besparen.

De mogelijkheid van het wachten op een Platinum game is dus mogelijkheid 1.

Daarnaast kan je natuurlijk ook online shops raadplagen of locale winkels die leuke aanbiedingen hebben. Zo kwam ik bij Play.com terecht. Meer hierover in een andere post.

PlayStation Home launching globally tomorrow, December 11th

The 3D virtual on-line community is like Second Life, only with the risk of rootkit. Hot. All kidding aside, the new service gives PS3 owners a customizable place to chat (voice or text) and play games with other PlayStation Home users through personalized avatars. Just like real life except without acne and all your social shortcomings. Home will be available to download and "experience basic features" for free -- some services (like creating a "club") will require cash though, so be prepared. Update: Added video of Red Bull's PlayStation Home game modeled after its Air Race after the break. It's also worth noting that the US is positioning this as an "open beta" whereas the Japanese announcement seems to position this as full production launch.

Benchmark Proves PlayStation 3 is the Best Blu-ray Player

Sure, we already knew it, but here it is proven again!

clipped from www.ps3news.com A benchmark test on Blu-ray players has recently been conducted by Blu-ray.com, and findings based on the results indicate that overall the PlayStation 3 is the best Blu-ray player out there. It out performed all its competitors, and the fact that the PS3 doubles up as a game console makes it the best choice if you want a Blu-ray player. To quote: The results were a bit surprising, to tell the truth, since they proved that actually, Sony's PS3 was pretty much THE best Blu-ray player out there, out-performing each and every one of its competitors in just about all of the tests mentioned above. Add that to the extra functionality it provides and Sony's claims that the PS3 is all that one needs within one's home entertainment center don't seem that farfetched anymore, especially given the fact that the price tag of the PS3 is actually lower than those of many of its competitors from the test.

PS3, Wii users get Psyclone TouchCharge pads, too

clipped from www.engadget.com We caught sight of Psyclone's WildCharger-based TouchCharge kit for the Xbox 360 a few weeks ago but, in case you missed it, the company is also offering similar kits for the PlayStation 3 and Wii. At $49.99 the PS3 version is actually the cheapest of the lot, due to the fact that it's able to use the controller's own rechargeable battery, while the $59.99 Wii version and $69.99 Xbox 360 version each include some rechargeable batteries of their own courtesy of Psyclone. The charging pads themselves are, of course, interchangeable, and you can even charge more than one device on a single pad, although finding the necessary controller adapters separately seems to be another matter.

Games: NFS Undercover

Eén van de games waar ik naar uit kijk is Need For Speed: Undercover. Dit is alweer de zoveelste release in de NFS reeks, en steeds brengen ze dat ietsjes meer. Hieronder kan je alvast enkele trailers / teasers zien van deze nieuwe release.

Upgrade je PS3, steek een grotere HDD

De PS3 begint naar mijn mening zijn maturiteit te bereiken. Ondertussen zijn er voor iedere gamer verschillende leuke spellen beschikbaar. Al die spellen nemen natuurlijk een zekere ruimte in op je harde schijf. Een grotere steken kan dus zeker geen kwaad!

Een tweede punt wat voor mij een teken is dat de PS3 op dreef is, zijn de nieuwe packs / versies die ervan uitkomen. Recent werd de nieuwe 80Gb en 160Gb versie gelanceerd. Dus, waarom zou jij achter blijven met een 40Gb versie?

Het playstation netwerk begint ook goed vol te staan met demo versies, films,... Ook daarvoor is wat extra plaats op de HDD makkelijk.

Conclusie: tijd om een nieuwe harde schijf te steken.

Mijn keuze ging uit naar een 320Gb model. Het upgraden verliep bijzonder vlot. Dit mede dankzij de zeer goede uitleg van Vincent De Leeuw op Bashers.

Wat het langst duurde was het nemen en terugzetten van de backup. Elks ongeveer 45minuten voor 35Gb. Het verwisselen van de HDD duurde slecht 5min.

First Live Shots of Metal Gear Solid 4 Bluetooth Headset

Other than these new shots that will probably self-destruct soon, no new details we didn't already know: Bluetooth 2.0, eight-hour talk time, 160 standby, drops on June 12 with the game itself. PS3 firmware 2.35 released, doesn't fix GTA IV woes

Up until now, there is no fix available for the PS3 locking up with GTA IV. We'll have to keep playing network disabled for now...

The latest 2.35 firmware won't specifically help. Sony says that the "minor update" will "improve stability of some PS3 titles" -- then clarifies that GTA IV is not part of the vagary. Nevertheless, Sony does say that they "have a identified a solution that should resolve the issue." So buck up Niko and get on the horn with Sony for help, God know the police won't.

GTA 4 Update For PS3

Een eerste update voor GTA IV is beschikbaar.
Persoonlijk laat ik hem even voor wat hij is. Met het netwerk uit loopt het spel perfect en dat wil ik even zo houden!

Nonetheless, according to a forum post on PS3Hax, Rockstar will begin issuing Grand Theft Auto 4 updates for the PS3 today. Just start the game and the system will prompt you. GTA VI: Problems, het spel loopt vast

Ondertussen is er al heel wat te doen rond dit spel. Sinds kort na de release doen de berichten de ronde dat het spel op PS3 (Playstation 3) kan vast lopen.

En ja hoor, ook hier was van dat. Na een aantal keer opnieuw op te starten bleef de console steeds vasthangen na het opstart scherm. Gelukkig zijn er veel mensen met hezelfde probleem.

Waarom gelukkig vraag je? omdat er dan ook veel info over te vinden is op het internet. Na wat zoeken kwam ik uit op de fragland website waar dit probleem ook omschreven was, echter zonder oplossing. Na enkele reakties gelezen te hebben, en verschillende opties zonder resultaat geprobeerd te hebben kwam ik op een post die zei: "Schakel je internet verbinding uit".

Na dit geprobeerd te hebben (als laatste oplossing) bleek het gelukkig te werken!

GTA IV: The Game

About the game:

GTA IV: The release

Het is zo ver, 29 April 2008 00:00 de officiële release datum van GTA IV (Grand Theft Auto 4). Zelfs voor zijn release wordt dit al DE game van het jaar genoemd.

Vele game winkels openden speciaal hun deuren de nacht van 28 op 29 April om vanaf 00:00 deze nieuwe supetitel op PS3 of xbox360 te verkopen.

Gezien ik er natuurlijk weer wat te laat bij was (belde pas 28 April om te reserveren) waren alle exemplaren van Game Mania reeds voorbehouden voor andere klanten.

Een telefoontje naar Saturn wees uit dat ze daar 29 April ook beschibaar zouden zijn. Dus, bij opening om 10u daarheen. Waren nog voldoende exemplaren aanwezig, en een geluk wou dat hij daar maar 59€ kost ipv de 65€ bij Game Mania (afgerond).

Leuk detail: We stonden met 3 aan de kassa en zowel voor mij als achter mij had men maar 1 ding te kopen: GTA IV!

GTA IV 40GB PlayStation 3 bundle surfaces in Europe

Het is bijna zo ver. Eind April komt eindelijk de lang verwachtte GTA 4 uit op PS3!!!

Out of seemingly nowhere, a Grand Theft Auto IV PlayStation 3 bundle has popped up on a Swedish retailer's website, offering a 40GB PS3, a copy of the game, a decorated box and little else (DualShock 3?). Judging by the package art, we're guessing there's no suave paint job waiting on either side, and Webhallen has the unit priced at 4,499 SEK (or about $755). Before you ask -- there's no telling whether this thing is headed stateside or not, but surely Sony / Rockstar Games wouldn't let such a moneymaker swim around the US of A, right?
