Online Poker

Since the end of 2006, I have been playing online poker at different poker rooms. The beginning of this year, I spend a few evenings each week playing the tables, after a while (since I started running) it was reduces to once or twice a month.

Now after visiting Holland Casino (see prior post), I am back into poker.

As I never posted anything about online poker, I will first post a short message on how I started, and afterwards I will report on my present gaming.

Starting at Online Poker:

1. Play money

At different online Casino's and Poker rooms, you can download theire software for free and play online with "Play Money". You don't have to deposit anything, and when you install the software, you get, let's say, 2000chips. With this chips you can get a seat on the "play money tables" where you can gain more chips or loose your chips. When all your chips are gone, you can push a button and get 2000 more chips.

This is a good way to get familiar with the way online poker works, the buttons you have to push for playing poker. BUT, in my opinion, this is NOT A GOOD WAY to learn how to play online poker (the strategy) itself.
Why not, you ask? Because nobody is committed to their chips, some people will always call your bets and raises and bluffs won't be as effective as on "real money tables". If they run out of chips, they only have to push a button to get new ones for free!!!

So I only suggest playing the "play money" to get familiar with the way it works, the buttons,... But do not play to long on the free money tables, because they will give you a wrong idea of how poker is played and it will influence your poker play in a bad way!

2. Real money: Building a bank-roll

When you really want to know how poker is played, you need to play the real-money tables. Therefore you need off course real money. Luckily for you, because of the big quantity of online poker rooms and online casino's, they are all screaming for you to become their customer.
