clipped from www.gadgetreview.com Soon your Roomba automated vacuum cleaner will have an outdoor buddy, the Automower.  Laden in solar panels, the mower can recharge its battery when the sun shines or return to its base station for an off the grid fill up.  Lawn capacity maxes out at .5 acres, which should be adequate for most Americans, and its 3 rotating blades are designed to cut the grass so fine that it decomposes quick enough to doubles as a fertilizer.  Hands and limbs won’t get severed thanks to a few security features installed, such as 4 digit PIN code to turn the mower on and off, an auto off switch if the mower is picked up and an auditory alarm system.  Keeping the mower on your property is as simple as installing a proximity wire. Samsung NC10 reviewed, trumps competition with 7 hour battery life

clipped from www.engadget.com Thus far word on the street about Samsung's NC10 has been good, but not exactly enough to distance it from the crowd. Laptop Magazine's full review of a Korean unit, however, found it to be exemplary, calling it "the most well-rounded 10-inch netbook on the market." The netbook earned high marks thanks to a bright screen, comfortable keyboard, and amazing battery life of 7:34 with WiFi turned on. (That's a bit suspect, though, as on a repeated test with screen brightness raised to 100 percent only 4:48 passed before it all went dark -- another re-test at 50 percent is promised.) The only real complaints were a somewhat dainty touchpad and mediocre disk performance. Sadly no benchmarks were given to indicate how the thing performs against phlegmy fingers, so you'll just have to test that for yourself this flu season.

Audi's A1 Sportback hybrid concept surfaces

clipped from www.engadget.com Audi confirmed its pure electric automobile plans earlier this month, and now the automaker's back with yet another green vehicle based on its A1 hybrid concept. In hybrid mode the five door "sportback" (sporty!) will go from 0-62 MPH in 7.9 seconds, reach a top speed of 124 MPH and squeeze up to 72.4 miles from a gallon of fuel. When in electric mode, however, the vehicle will take you more than 60 miles on a single charge. The adjustable drivetrain / drive shaft / shock absorber system allows drivers to choose between two modes: sport mode (for optimum acceleration) and efficiency mode. The latter not only makes best use of the lithium-ion battery but also ties into the vehicle's on-board navigation, taking your route (and the car's altitude) into consideration when computing things like power usage and regeneration phases

Uit eten: Le Zoute Zoen (Antwerpen)

Vanavond brengt onze honger on naar Le Zoute Zoen. Vrienden van ons zijn er al verschillende malen geweest en steeds zeer tevreden. Het interieur is er zeer gezellig en geeft direct een "thuis gevoel".

Men werkt hier met een princiepe van 2 "shiften" :-). Ofwel kan je komen om 18u ofwel om 21u.

Er is een mooie menu kaart met verschilende lekkere gerechten. Tegelijk is er een keuze uit 2 samengestelde menu's.

Het eerste is het "Zoen menu", waarbij er telkens keuze is uit 2 gerechten (voor-, tussen-, hoofdgerecht en dessert). Hiervoor betaal je €27 of €33 voor resp 3 of 4 gangen. Mogelijkheid tot nemen van dranken incl voor 15€ (halve fles wij per persoon, aperitief van het huis, water en koffie).

 

Het tweede menu is het "Lady Cheff menu". Hier gaat het om een 4 gangen menu, zonder keuze mogelijkheden (€45). Waarbij het ook mogelijk is om dranken bij te nemen voor 20€. Hier gaat het om een glaasje champagne, aangepaste wijnen en water & koffie.

De keuze valt op het 2de menu. Het gehele menu is zeer lekker, enkel het hertenkalf is naar de taaie kant.

Het is een gezellige avond die vlot 3u duurt. Hier cil ik zeker nog wel eens terug komen om een combinatie van het "zoen menu" uit te proberen.

Uit eten: Park West (Berchem)

Na een lange dag, nog even een snelle hap gaan eten in Park West te Berchem. De laatste keer dat we er waren was het zomer en hebben we buiten op het teras lekkere ribbetjes gegeten.

Het interieur is gezellig en trendy. De ontvangst is correct en er is nog voldoende plaats vrij.

Vandaag houden we het ook bij een hoofdgerecht en maken onze keuze uit de standaard kaart.

Lam
Lamsfilet met auberginepickels, groentengratin en zachte kalfsjus ( €21,95)

Kabeljauw
Kabeljauw met gegrilde jonge prei, tomaat confi, beurre blanc geparfumeerd met truffel (€22)

Beide gerechten waren zeer lekker met een perfecte prijs kwaliteits vehouding. Ook de huiswijnen (wit en rood) zijn van goede kwaliteit.

De garcon verdient zeker een positieve vermelding met zijn perfecte service.

We komen zeker nog eens terug.

Custom-made Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 puts Sony and Konami's to shame

clipped from www.engadget.com Konami and Sony's limited edition Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 may have been enough to satisfy a few fans of the game willing to pay a premium for their console of choice but, for sheer excess, it has nothing on this custom-made system built by the folks at Morpheon Mods, which is now up for auction on eBay. Among the many details adorning this shiny creation is a laser-cut, stainless steel MGS4 marquee, a laser-etched image of Solid Snake, a carbon fiber Fox Hound logo on the rear, and 14 white micro LEDs to light everything up just right. They even got Hideo Kojima himself to autograph the console and, perhaps best of all, they wrapped everything around a fully backwards compatible 60GB PS3. Just don't expect any of that to come cheap, as bidding is already topping the $1,500 mark with six days left, though you do also get pretty impressive collection of Metal Gear swag with it, and 15% of the proceeds will go to help the Child's Play charity.

So we'll look the gift horse in the mouth and turn our attentions to this completely imaged PSP2 concept. A flexible OLED screen pulls out from the base, flexible until stiffened through an electric charge (a la Batman's cape).
